After numerous spyshots and teaser images, the covers have finally been pulled off the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. Yes, you read that right – the name of the diamond brand’s iconic compact two-door has been reused on a crossover, essentially a sportier “coupé” version of the ASX.

Measuring 4,405 mm long, 1,805 mm wide and 1,685 mm tall, the new car is 110 mm longer, 35 mm wider and 60 mm taller than the ASX, although the 2,670 mm wheelbase remains the same.

Although it’s been significantly toned down from the XR-PHEV concepts that previewed it, the Eclipse Cross carries over many of the styling cues. Front and centre is Mitsubishi’s Dynamic Shield grille, flanked by large head- and fog light clusters, while the wedge-shaped profile, steeply-rising beltline, fast rear windscreen rake and short rear overhang give the car a more dynamic look.

The deep character line along the side of the car runs into the tail lights, and emphasises the beefy fender flares. At the rear, the Eclipse Cross’ LED tail lights stretches across the rear windscreen, which is split Honda CR-Z-style. The third brake light is situated along the dividing bar, and when illuminated it connects the tail lights, forming a single beam of light.

The red paint you see on this car is new for Mitsubishi, and features a semi-transparent red coat and a clear coat over the standard base coat to create high colour saturation and intensity, providing what Mitsubishi says is a “highly-refined finish.” Sounds a lot like Mazda’s signature Soul Red Metallic to us.

Step inside and you’ll find an interior that’s actually rather reminiscent of the Lexus NX, with a cliff-like centre console framed by silver metal trim pieces. There’s even a Touchpad Controller that is a direct ripoff of the Lexus’ Remote Touch pad, manipulating the centre display. Speaking of which, the Smartphone Link Display Audio system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Ahead of the driver, there’s a head-up display that shows vehicle speed, data from the active safety systems and other necessary information, while at the back, the 60:40 split-folding rear bench slides and reclines.

Power comes from a new 1.5 litre direct-injected turbo petrol engine mated to a CVT, the latter featuring a Sport Mode with eight virtual ratios; there’s also a 2.2 litre turbodiesel paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. No output figures have been revealed just yet.

Under the skin, the Eclipse Cross features an electronically-controlled all-wheel drive system, as well as Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) integrated dynamics control system with brake-activated Active Yaw Control (AYC). A three-point front strut tower brace and rear structural bonding increase body rigidity, which, combined with detail suspension optimisation, is said to offer precise handling and superior stability.

Menarik untuk melihat SUV baru Mitsubishi ini. Apakah ini untuk menggantikan Outlander Sport atau memang berada di kelas di atas model itu. Memiliki bagian belakang yang unik dan desain dashboard yang mirip dengan Lexus NX beserta Touchpadnya. Semoga aja bisa masuk ke Indonesia tahun ini.

Kenapa gak jadi outlander sport aja sih ini mobil...kelihatan dari fotonya sih dimensinya mirip"

Malah jadi eclipse...padahal eclipse itu lebih terkenal sebagai mobil sport...

sepertinya ga akan masuk Indonesia dalam waktu dekat oom... sebagai pengganti outlander juga ga mungkin, sebab Outlander sport sendiri kan udh punya model all new nya... tp juga kayanya ga bakalan masuk Indo tahun ini :mky_03:

kayaknya ga bakal masuk indo sih. IMHO, kalo diliat dari model lebih bagus ini daripada outlander which is bisa makan pasarnya outlander, kalo misalkan diatas outlander deket harganya sama PS bisa bisa mobil ini ga laku?

Kayak nya ini emang penerus nya os tapi ganti nama. Btw kenapa harus make nama eclipse sih, bisa2 gto sama evo bakal jadi suv juga nih

Nama2 produk mitsubishi itu2 aja ya, bikin bingung kayak eclipse, colt, mirage, bahkan ada lancer disebut galant fortis.

Desain belakangnya perlu waktu buat dicerna mata...agak mengingatkan sama pontiac aztek,

tp lama2 sepertinya terbiasa melihatnya...gak kayak kakaknya yg gak selesai2 mata kita mencerna desain belakangnya..

buritannya bentuknya aneh gitu.

apa mungkin saking fokusnya sama aerodinamika sampai ngorbanin bentuknya?
kalo dari bentuk belakangnya, keliatannya koefisien drag-nya bakal kecil tuh.

mirip2 sama mirage yang konon jadi mobil bensin non-hybrid paling efisien dengan koefisien drag-nya yang cuma 0,27;
tentunya dengan bentuk buritan dan spoiler yang... jelek.

Pilihan mesinnya sptnya menarik. Yg bensin kayaknya mesin all-new karena selama ini mitsu belom pernah ngeluarin mesin 1500cc turbo. Yg diesel juga kayaknya masih turunan mesin ANPS (semoga yg ini masuk karena udah terbukti oke di ANPS).

Bisa jadi memang penerus OS, secara nyaris impossible kalau Eclipse Cross ditaruh diantara Outlander dan Outlander Sport. Segmennya terlalu mepet.
Manufaktur yang memakai nama produk-produk legendarisnya dengan harapan konsumen akan selalu ingat dengan masa kejayaannya produknya itu. Hmmm.... kalau tidak mau membuat generasi penerusnya, better itu nama dipensiunkan saja lha. Jangan ditambahin embel embel Sport atau Cross segala. #gagalpaham

Tampang LMPV XM versi produksi sudah terlihat pada CUV Eclipse Cross (EC) ini. Head lamp sipit tajam dengan fog lamp besar, sebenarnya kurang sinkron dan lebih bagusan tampang ANPS yang head dan fog lampnya terlihat sinkron. But overall is OK. Semoga buritan LMPV XM akan lebih bagus dari CUV EC & ANPS dan menjadi mobil Mitsu yang tidak menimbulkan kontroversi design buritannya. Selain tampang, kemungkinan besar misteri mesin bensin yang akan diusung oleh LMPV Mitsu XM nantinya juga sudah terlihat mengingat statement PT. KTB bahwa XM adalah LMPV dengan platform CUV dan mesin all new 1.5L. Hehehe sorry OOT

Menarik sekali pilihan mesin Eclipse Cross ini karena untuk tipe bensin:1.5L MIVEC Turbo. Penasaran pada spesifikasinya secara selama ini tidak ada displacement 1.5L di line up MIVEC petrol dan diesel engine. Yang ada selama ini hanya 4G15 yang dipakai Colt T120SS sejak jaman baheula. Displacement 1.5L jika masuk Indo akan lebih menarik di mata konsumen secara sudah sejajar dengan Honda HR-V sebagai market leader entry-level SUV. Jadi Eclipse Cross tidak masuk segmen nanggung dan terlalu berdekatan dengan mid SUV monocoque trim terendah (2.0L M/T) seperti OS di Indo saat ini. Positifnya juga bisa sharing mesin dengan LMPV XM versi produksi karena tampang mereka kemungkinan besar seperti pinang dibelah dua. Seperti pada Nissan GL-Juke (HR15DE) dan Honda HRV-Mobilio (L15Z1). Konon segera menyusul Toyota CHR-Yaris (1NZ-FE). Tinggal strategi PT. KTB pretelin saja Turbo di mesin 1.5L dan pasang M/T jika ingin harga yang lebih bersahabat untuk CUV EC seperti pada LMPV XM nanti...hahaha. Pasti langsung jadi pilihan menarik lha.
In my opinion untuk mesin dieselnya kemungkinan kecil bisa masuk ke Indo sini mengingat ini adalah entry level SUV. Jika memasang diesel harga akan menjadi mahal dan kembali berdekatan dengan medium SUV.
