Bener sebenernya rotary itu seneng di high-rev karena karakternya yang bertentangan dibanding mesin piston konvensional, yang jadi highlight postingan saya adalah perlakuan kita ketika nge rev, output shaft yang terhubung ke rotary engine mendapat beban berat karena karakter rotary yang bisa reving sesuka hati.. Mengenai daya tahan rotary engine terletak dari seal-seal dan bagian oli nya..

satu problem rotary, adalah suhu mesin, pada reving yang tinggi, suhu mesin mobil rx8 sangat tinggi. Oli dengan mudah menjadi overheat -> pada perlakuan reving yang kasar dengan mudah leaking.

Pada reving tinggi tidak boleh melepas pedal gas secara spontan -> penurunan rev spontan bisa menyebabkan engine cracking, selain itu karena extra fuel membawa oli di rotor mesin -> kompresi mesin seketika drop -> padahal masih di injeksi bensin -> maka terjadi engine flood.. Ini terjadi pada mesin rotary yang di high-rev, coba pikir, high rev dilakukan ketika jalanan sepi/kosong, pada kondisi real ini jarang terjadi. Maka trik yang paling jitu adalah menjaga putaran mesin secukupnya, pake bbm bagus, oli super sintetik yang berkualitas..

Anyway trik terakhir ini belum teruji, karena ini dari bapak-bapak owner RX8...

Makanya... Tricky kan mesin rotary?.. saya aja pusing baca teori perawatannya....

wajar sih kalo mesin rotary itu tricky, karena kan dia mirip2 mesin 2 tak dimana sama2 gak pake popet valve (hanya ada lubang2 saluran) dan lubrikasi untuk ruang bakarnya jg sama2 membuat pelumas itu ikut terbakar bersama dng bbm ...makanya mesin rotary mesti rajin cek level olinya.

sempet jg sih baca2 ttg resep singkat perawatan mesin wankel rotary :
1. selalu cek level oli...dan selalu siapkan persediaan pelumas krn mesin rotary haus oli...itu krn olinya kan ikut terbakar saat melumasi ke ruang bakar
2. saat cold start, begitu sudah hidup jangan sering2 langsung dimatikan lagi.... Krn bbm yg rich akan membuat fuel flood di ruang bakar...akibatnya pelumas yg di ruang bakar jd "luntur" krn sifat bbm yg dalam jumlah besar kan bisa "membilas" pelumas...hasilnya tentu keausan berlebih. Jadi tunggu beberapa saat sampe mesin idle baru blh dimatikan
3. sempetkan untuk geber di rpm tinggi setidaknya sekali sehari setiap mbl dipakai untuk mengusir kerak2 di ruang bakar
4. apex seal adalah titik lemah di mesin rotary...musuh utamanya adalah detonasi/knocking/nglitik krn bs bikin jebol prematur..jadi pastikan pake bbm yg bagus sesuai dng kebutuhan speknya
5. kalo mau bisa tambahin oli mesin 2 tak (oli samping) dicampur di bbm nya dng takaran 1 liter bbm : 50 ml oli samping....ini akan membantu pelumasan di ruang bakar...dan bs jadi pencegah keausan prematur incase level oli di mesin sudah menurun krn pemiliknya lupa untuk cek level oli mesinnya

Mantap bgt explanationnya.. Sgt Jelas dan make sense.. Cmn oli lbh bgs pake oli mineral di banding synthetic. Cmn sy liat di forum2 sampe skrg msh di debatin sih ttg ini.. HKS ada ngeluarin oli synthetic khusus tuk mesin rotary jg sih.. Gw dulu pake oli mineral..

iya mirip seperti di vespa lawas.
tapi di mesin rotary, nambahn oli 2T itu untuk opsi preventif saja, bukan suatu keharusan seperti di mesin 2 tak :D

mau numpang jawab nih gan.
kalau tarikan jelas nissan fairlady donx karena dari cc juga sudah berbeda jauh. untuk rx-8tuh 1300 cc rotary engine 245 hp. sedang fairlady V6 3,799 cc 485 hp. jauh berbeda banget. tapi yang japanese domestic kecepatannya dibatasi cuma 180km/jam. handling menurut saya sama-sama stabil untuk kecapatan tinggi. harga jual ya pasti lebih bertahan RX-8 karena dealer mazda juga sudah menual sedang fairlady masuk melalui importir umum. konsumsi bahan bakar ya tidak usaah ditanya lagi donx gan karena bisa dilihat dari kapasitas mesinnya, pasti lebih irit RX-8.

Kalo 370Z itu mesinnya VQ37VHR 3.699 cc dan tenaganya 332 HP... Sedangkan yg 3.799 cc itu VR38DETT, mesin GTR R35...
