interior keliatan lega banget untuk baris ketiganya karena baris keduanya mepet abis (cuma ditaro child seat doang).....ya wajar lah kalo baris ke tiga lega. Ya yg beli mobil ini juga jangan expect bisa selega odyssey lah (ada harga ada rupa), lha cuma honda jazz yang dipanjangin kan?

Bagus yg model Freed ini, smoga aja masuk ke Indonesia, smakin banyak pilihan mobil bagus yg harganya terjangkau masuk ke pasar Indonesia, smakin akan keliatan kalo Avanza en Innova itu sebenarnya ga ada apa-apanya.

Asian Honda Motor Planning an Avanza-Innova Killer?
In less than one week after Honda unveiled its all new Freed compact MPV, the folks at Bangkok Post published a scoop story claiming the Freed will be assembled in Indonesia, thus raising speculations that the Freed would be exported to other regional ASEAN member countries under the Asean Free Trade Agreement. Ignore the slightly corny website layout, but the Bangkok Post Motoring is a very reputable motoring publication in Thailand. If you happen to be in Thailand, try to get yourself a copy of the Bangkok Post, they write some pretty good stuff there. Motoring section is a weekly pullout published every Friday.
For all too many years, the MPV market has been pretty much dominated by Toyota's all conquering 7-seater Avanza and 8-seater Innova two-pronged attack. The two most popular car in Indonesia, the region's largest MPV market, is the Avanza and Kijang Innova. Despite being launched with much fanfare, Nissan's 7-seater Grand Livina and 5-seater Livina MPV have not made much impact to the current status quo. It will be interesting if Honda will finally give Toyota a good run for its money as Honda has always been sticking to its core strength in building very good passenger cars for its business case, which played well to Toyota's favour as Honda left the market for affordable utility vehicles wide open for Toyota to help itself. Its Stream is a niche market vehicle that is out of reach for most families in South East Asia.
According to Honda's press release, the model unveiled in Japan is sold in 3 different seating configuration :
a) 7-seater (2+3+2) version featuring captain seats in the second row
b) 8-seater version (2+3+3)
c) 5-seater version (2+3) with 1,275 litres VDA load carrying capacity
The Freed is built on a variation of the Global Small Car platform, which has since spawned models like Airwave, Jazz, City and possibly a dedicated hybrid only model in 2009. The powertrain is also likely to be shared with the Jazz's 1.5-litre L-series engine mated to a CVT transmission.
Bangkok Post cites a higher quality interior and better design as the vehicles key strengths against the Avanza's el-cheapo interior and staid looks.
It is also interesting to note that though the Freed is dimensionally smaller than both the Grand Livina and Innova (Kijang), its wheelbase is only 10mm short of the supposedly longer Innova! Credit goes to Honda's compact mechanical layouts and short overhangs. Seating capacity and interior space wise, the Freed is capable of competing with both 7-seater and 8-seater models in the market.
But before you get all to excited, do understand that the images here are the JDM (Japan Domestic Market) version, which means higher specs and better refinement but also a lot more costly to built. Do expect the car to be vastly dumbed down to make it a viable proposition for assembly and sales in poorer developing markets.
Even if the rumour is correct, I highly doubt the vehicle will retain the current interior trim, gadgets and even intrument layout. Dash looks like its been designed to maximise utilization in right-hand drive and left-hand drive countries, so exports to foreign markets is a high probability. And by the way, I hope Honda improves the climate controls because it looks very counter-intuitive from here.
And then there is another problem, I am not sure if I am correct about this but I have been told that MPVs with sliding doors attract higher taxes than MPVs with hinged doors. I am not sure about other ASEAN countries but if this true, then it could be serious handicap to the Freed in the Malaysian market. It is almost impossible to reengineer the doors of a vehicle to satisfy the regulation peculiarities of just one particular market, especially one whose volume is just a paltry compared to that of Indonesia and Thailand. Door designs of any vehicle are critical safety and stress bearing structures and thus any changes in the design would require massive input in man and computing hours to ensure proper crash safety performance.
Honda cars are assembled in Indonesia by PT.Honda Prospect Motor, whose plant in Karawang currently assembles Civic, City, CR-V and Jazz. The last MPV assembled by PT. Honda Prospect Motor was the previous generation Stream, which has since been discontinued in Indonesia due to poor sales. Thus, it makes sense for the Asia Pacific regional office of Asian Honda Motor to be scouting for a suitable model to finally allow it to get a slice of the largest market segment in Indonesia. Over the past few years rumours have been circulating that Honda is planning for a pan-Asian regional small MPV. It could be that the long gestation of the project will eventually result in a developing market version of the Freed.
If introduced, the Freed will face off with these three dominant players.

Nissan Grand Livina
Bangkok Post speculates the introduction timing to be in 2009. Meanwhile, keep scouring the net for any new updates!

Bro honda kayaknya memang pengen mengobok-obok pasar dibawah 200juta.. Gatal kayaknya liat keuntungan kompetitor.. Saya lihat memang mungkin tren ke depan mobil kecil yang hemat bensin..khususnya di asia.. Freed memang masih tahun depan mungkin releasednya tapi saya sudah lihat di judul milis sebelah honda city 2008 agustus september 2008 udah direleased di thailand siap2 mengobok2 pasar sedan modelnya kereeeeeen banged mau deh satu..

Wah saya speechless lihat strategi marketing honda.. Walaupun stream ga diproduksi di indonesia gantinya baby Elysion (Freed) dibawah 200 juta lagi..hehehe .. Panas2 pengen jual mobil dirumah satu kayaknya..
menurut saya bentuknya mirip2 Alphard yaa apalgi kalo dikasih body kit mugen..
Wah kalo masih lebih kecil dari innova sih gw blum minat sama sekali.. Innova menurut gw udah 7/8 seaters yg minimal spacenya utk pergi2 keluarga.. Kurang dri itu nyiksa, ct: avanza, GL, stream bahkan zafira juga gak nyaman karena space penumpang terutama belakang yg pas2an.. Avz emang laku keras, tapi toh sebenernya bukan utk asli org yg cari 7/8 seaters karena yg make kebanyakan 5 - 2 orang.. Inipun beli lebih karena murah aja, nothing else.. Itupun kualitasnya parah, sebenernya bisa ngerusak brand toyota loh.. Tapi demi duit jangka pendek, kayane mereka cuek... No offense utk pemilik a/x, karena gw dulu juga pake ini mobil... GL lebih jadi avanza killer, stream mahal dan yg pake umumnya yg emang maniak honda, kurang bisa attrack diluar itu karena memang gak kena utk 7 seaters coupe seperti iklannya dulu... Kenapa gak bikin pake platform oddy yg lebih besar kalo emang niat utk 7 seaters?

Sama boss.. gw ngiler nih sama freed... kalo di bandrol dibawah 200jt.. ambil 1 deh... buat gantiin ferio th 2000 yg dah mayan umurnya.

Freed 120jt seh ga mungkin deh bos.. meskipun di import dari Thai, pasti positioning di atas harga Jazz 08, tp gw berharap ga beda2 jauh deh harganya dgn jazz dan tidak lewat dari 200jt... boleh dong berharap
Menurut saya HPM akan mati2an njual freed under 200jt tapi ga terlalu over specdown.. Namanya juga strategi bisnis semakin cepat dan banyak barang terjual cepet juga balik modal.. (asumsi : indonesia MPV minded)
jazz baru harganya 160-180jt kan... mungkin freed dipaksa masuk antara 175-200jt. masih bisa laku keras tuh.... gak mungkin dibawah itu...
kalo isu dari autobild.. HPM lagi mengusahakan ground clearance freed supaya dinaikin. emang terlalu rendah sih... jazz aja mentok sana sini di polisi tidur.. apalagi MPV Freed yg bakal membawa beban lebih berat... musti lebih tinggi... tau bisa gak tuh.. soalnya biasanya design kan sudah darisononya di JDM. dan honda kayaknya jarang melakukan perubahan dari JDMnya. apakah Honda Indonesia berhasil membujuk honda jepang ?
gw bilang mah pasti diatas 200 tapi dibawah 250.....spt kata GTR. Dibawah 200 kaga mungkin banget walaupun basis jazz.....sampe specdown pun gak mungkin banyak2 karena kebanyakan barang2 kaya abs dan airbag udah jadi barang standard sekarang ini.....mao dispecdown apalagi??? power window???
