Nissan's new 6 models lineup for 2004!
Nissan unveils six new models for Japan
Nissan Motor Co Ltd has issued the following press release:
Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., today unveiled six new models for the Japanese market to be launched by the end of fiscal year 2004. The Murano crossover sport utility vehicle, which goes on sale today, spearheads the product offensive for Japan. The five other models, which will go on sale on separate dates, are the Tiida compact hatchback, the Fuga luxury sedan, the Tiida Latio compact sedan, the Lafesta minivan and the Note compact hatchback.
“These six new models for Japan, together with the new products we will introduce in many key markets this fiscal year, support our commitment to sell an additional
1 million units worldwide under NISSAN 180,†said Nissan President and CEO Carlos Ghosn.
Under the three-year NISSAN 180 business plan, Nissan will count the additional
1 million units between October 2004 and September 2005, compared with fiscal year 2001, bringing the company’s global sales to 3.6 million units.
New model highlights:
Murano
Marking Nissan’s debut into the growing crossover SUV segment, the Murano first went on sale in the U.S. in December 2002. Since its launch, the Murano has sold more than 80,000 units. In Japan, the model is expected to gain new fans with its bold exterior design, stylish interior and refined driving performance. Japanese customers have a choice of an in-line, four-cylinder 2.5-liter engine with 4-speed automatic transmission or a 3.5-liter V6 engine paired with Nissan’s XTRONIC CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission).
Tiida
The Tiida, to be released in late September, offers the characteristics of a luxury-class sedan at the price and size of a compact hatchback. At launch, the Tiida will be available with the all-new 1.5-liter HR engine. This advanced, in-line four-cylinder multi-valve engine offers improved fuel economy and acceleration compared with previous engines of its size. The Tiida also offers an interior length, measured from the accelerator to the rear seat hip point, which is on par with the Cima luxury sedan, as well as flexible rear seats that slide up to 240 mm.
Fuga
The Fuga is powered by the latest generation of the high-performance 3.5-liter VQ engine, bringing a new level of driving exhilaration to the luxury segment. Developing maximum power of 280 PS and maximum torque of 37 kgm, the Fuga has been optimized for both driving excitement and comfortable long-distance cruising. The Fuga also features an Intelligent Cruise Control system and state-of-the-art safety technologies. It also comes with a personal driving position memory system that recognizes an Intelligent Key and welcomes the driver with his or her preferred driving position. The Fuga, which offers more interior space than any other car in its class, will go on sale in mid-October.
Tiida Latio
The Tiida Latio, which will go on sale toward the end of October, creates a new standard for small cars by offering a first-class interior package in a fresh, modern design. The compact sedan’s interior length is also on a par with the Cima. The model will feature the all-new 1.5 HR engine at launch.
Lafesta
With natural light pouring in through its panoramic roof and large windows, the Lafesta minivan gives all passengers, not just the driver, an unprecedented feeling of openness. The Lafesta will be released in early December.
Note
The Note is a compact car that provides spirited driving performance together with a flexible interior package. Designed for customers wanting the convenience of a compact hatchback but with enough space to support diverse family needs, the Note will go on sale in mid-January 2005.
New technology:
Nissan also announced that it plans to have more than 80% of its domestic passenger vehicle sales certified as Super Ultra-Low Emission Vehicles
(SU-LEV) by the end of fiscal year 2005. Nissan already leads other Japanese automakers in the sale of Ultra-Low Emission Vehicles (U-LEV) with more than 85% of its passenger car sales certified as U-LEVs.
In the area of telematics, Nissan’s CARWINGS navigation system will be made compatible with Bluetooth-ready high-speed mobile phones, starting with the all-new Tiida. Nissan will be the first automaker in the world to provide fastest-route guidance assisted by a 24-hour live operator service.

Yang kuning apa? Yang hijau apa? Yang beige apa? Yang jingga Nissan Murano. Yang nggak kelihatan lampunya apa? Yang biru apa? Ada yang bisa nyebutin satu-satu?

Unfortunately I couldn't find any pics showing the Lafesta's front but here's a closer look.
You can see the shape of the headlights in the pic showing its side - looking good.
It's difficult to tell from these pics but I think the proportions are similar to the Serena, only with a longer bonnet for better crash protection..

Kalau saya bilang, meskipun Lafesta lebih canggih dari Serena c24, saya tetap lebih suka exterior c24.
Dan kelihatan Carlos Ghosn dan Nissan sangat ambitious. Toyota jika ngak hati hati bisa di salip !
Lihat mobil impian saya Nissan Armada di Amrik, jika saya Toyota dan Honda pasti kwatir
Dan banyak teman tetap worry Nissan akan kasih kita facelifted Terranos dan X-Trails. Anda think abt this, si Ghosn orang ambitious dan cerdas, mungkin kah dia se bodoh itu ? Dia kan pasti juga mau Nissan jadi no.1 di Indonesia. Jika cuman facelift terus, kita pun sadar bahwa ngak bisa salip Toyota dan Honda.
Saya percaya bahwa Nissan di masa depan banyak kejutan untuk kita. Just wait and see. Ingat, orang yang bisa success rescue company yang hampir bangkrut dan mulai ancam rivalnya di mana mana tidak akan lepaskan Toyota / Honda di Indonesia juga ! Dan mereka kan janji tiap tahun akan ada minimum 1 model baru (bukan facelift) di Indonesia.

Jangan confused by what I say. What I mean adalah, Nissan Indo akan aggressive masukin model baru, all-new, tapi tidak akan hancurkan model mereka di sini yang masih muda. Yang masih muda di facelift. Jadi Nissan akan do 2 things at the sametime. All New dan facelift together. Misalnya mereka baru saja keluarin Teana. Apakah Teana adalah All new Sentra ? Of course not.
Misalnya nanti keluarin Lafesta atau sedan apa kek, tapi tidak akan keluar c25 atau new X-Trail so soon. Siapa bilang Lafesta adalah Serena c25 ? Wong namanya saja Lafesta, bukan New Serena lagi.
Dan lihat Lafesta, ngak terlalu mirip kok ama Serena c24. Its like satu Innova satu Previa atau Voxy / Noah. Dua duanya adalah MPV tapi they are a different type and breed.

And yes, it's likely that the Lafesta is not C25 - maybe its 'sister' model, sharing the same new engine.
Nissan should be selling the Lafesta as a new model, along with the Serena, and replace the C24 when C25 is ready. That's the idea. Unfortunately, I don't think either the Lafesta or the C25 will see the light of day here anytime soon, since Nissan plans to sell the remaining units of C24 for the next '4-5 years'. That is, if they stick by it..
People, aku koq merasa Nissan Indo punya standar ganda. Mereka cepat dalam memperkenalkan model baru seperti 350Z (walaupun 350Z bukan bertugas mencari profit tapi menjadi flagship model untuk menimbulkan 'halo effect' thus meningkatkan brand image Nissan), tapi mereka juga 'milking' as much money as possible from selling old models (Terrano, Serena). Mungkin mereka mencontoh Astra dengan Kijang kapsulnya.
Contoh kasus; jika mereka hanya akan melakukan facelift pada model2 yang baru di-launch dan tidak akan segera mengganti ketika replacement untuk model2 tersebut sudah tersedia di Jepang, berarti untuk model2 tertentu itu kita akan selalu terlambat beberapa tahun dong?
Contoh jika mereka akan menjual C24 selama 4-5 tahun ke depan, ketika akhirnya mereka meluncurkan C25, di Jepang sudah akan segera keluar replacementnya lagi.
Strategi apa yang mereka ambil, kita akan tahu ketika X-Trail and Serena replacements are released..

Kalau saya bilang, better late than never. Malah saya bilang " dosa " Toyota lebih besar. Mereka sajikan Kijang Kapsul sejak 1997 hingga 2004 yang artinya orang Indonesia is being left behind 20 years technology gap, toh tetap laku keras. Mungkin banyak orang Indonesia ngak ngerti appreciate mobil jadi ATPM ya play along.
Lihat Innova tipe V. Sudah 200 juta lebih masih ngak ada airbag, BA dan EBD. Meskipun ada multi fungsi display, kan safety feature dan rem bagus lebih penting dari pada info ngak critical.
Kalau saya bilang, Serena yang meskipun lahir di Jepang 1999, masih lebih up to date di banding Innova ini yang Toyota Claim " Global Quality ". Global Quality tanpa airbag ? Tell this to the Europeans, Americans, Japanese etc. mereka akan bilang " You're kidding ! "
Try to sell a car with no airbag to them and see what happens.
Innova seharusnya di cap " South East Asia Quality ", soalnya saya yakin ini mobil ngak akan di expor ke negara maju. Paling cuman ke negara dekat kita saja. Jika dia ke Jepang / Amrik, I will change my mind. At least Serena kesayangan saya ada di Jepang lho !
Nissan Indonesia ya saya belum bisa tebak persis apa yang mereka akan lakukan in the future. Tapi jika omong cepat launch new models, don't worry about Nissan. Itu si Carlos Ghosn kan sudah terkenal hobby banget suka keluarin model baru, banyak tipe dan dalam waktu singkat. Malah ada banyak orang di dunia otomotif yang bilang dia harus hati hati, nanti terlalu banyak new model bisa pusing urusinnya nanti.

MR20DE engine, seen here attached to new CVT, has been developed jointly by Nissan and Renault.
Nissan has unveiled a couple of inline four-cylinder gasoline engines, jointly developed with Renault, and a new continuously variable transmission (CVT).
The 1.5-litre HR15DE and the 2.0-litre MR20DE will be adopted used in a number of small and compact passenger cars beginning with the Tiida, a high-end compact scheduled for release in Japan this autumn. Renault will also adopt them. While the Tiida is first off the blocks with the 1.5, the first MR20DE is scheduled to first see service in a new people-carrier that will come out later this year.
Nissan says both engines “ incorporate a host of new shared technologies and are designed to provide excellent fuel economy combined with improved acceleration under the conditions most commonly encountered in everyday drivingâ€Â.
Specifically, the adoption of the following new technologies has substantially improved fuel economy and torque under ordinary driving conditions.
- The combustion period has been shortened and thermal efficiency improved by strengthening the gas flow in the combustion chamber.
- Advanced technologies have been employed to reduce friction, including the use of a new machining method for the cylinder bores and the application of a mirror-like finish to the crankshaft and cam bearing surfaces.
- The load imposed on the engine to drive the air conditioner and other auxiliary units has been reduced by making them more efficient and improving the control program.
Nissa says tests benchmarking the HR15DE against its own QG15DE motor and the MR20DE against the QR20DE (the Q series engines won many awards for their performance) show big improvements across a mix of highway, city and suburban driving conditions.
The 1,498cc HR15DE, driving through the new CVT, offers 5-7 percent more torque and low and medium engine speeds. Weight is reduced by a massive 30 percent and fuel economy by 20 percent.
In the case of the 1,997cc MR20DE, the improvements are 5-10 percent in low and medium end torque, an eight percent weight reduction and an impressive 37 percent improvement in fuel economy.
The new CVT “further enhances the benefits that characterize this type of transmission, including excellent fuel economy, smooth power delivery without any shift shock and outstanding acceleration performance,†Nissan says. In particular, shift response has been improved by tuning the hydraulic and electronic controls.
The shift response improvement combined with a wider gear ratio range contributes significantly to the acceleration and fuel economy under ordinary driving conditions.

MR20DE engine, seen here attached to new CVT, has been developed jointly by Nissan and Renault.
Nissan has unveiled a couple of inline four-cylinder gasoline engines, jointly developed with Renault, and a new continuously variable transmission (CVT).
The 1.5-litre HR15DE and the 2.0-litre MR20DE will be adopted used in a number of small and compact passenger cars beginning with the Tiida, a high-end compact scheduled for release in Japan this autumn. Renault will also adopt them. While the Tiida is first off the blocks with the 1.5, the first MR20DE is scheduled to first see service in a new people-carrier that will come out later this year.
Nissan says both engines “ incorporate a host of new shared technologies and are designed to provide excellent fuel economy combined with improved acceleration under the conditions most commonly encountered in everyday drivingâ€Â.
Specifically, the adoption of the following new technologies has substantially improved fuel economy and torque under ordinary driving conditions.
- The combustion period has been shortened and thermal efficiency improved by strengthening the gas flow in the combustion chamber.
- Advanced technologies have been employed to reduce friction, including the use of a new machining method for the cylinder bores and the application of a mirror-like finish to the crankshaft and cam bearing surfaces.
- The load imposed on the engine to drive the air conditioner and other auxiliary units has been reduced by making them more efficient and improving the control program.

Saya baru isi bensin Serena sampai full tank. Perhitungannya sekitar 8.6km/litre. Tidak boros, tapi tidak irit juga. Sedang sedang saja.
Tapi the new MR20DE 2.000cc engine from Nissan, kalau betul konsumsi bensin lebih irit 37%, that's sungguh luar biasa man!
Mr. Szli, kita harus akui bahwa Nissan telah memberikan indonesia C24 dan engine QR20DE yang sedang phasing out di Jepang. Jika selama 4-5 tahun ke depan, Nissan Indo hanya melakukan 'facelift' pada C24, sedangkan Jepang/Malaysia/Philippine sudah disupply C25, maka they would have committed the same sin as Toyota did with Kijang.
Then again, there may never be a New, new Serena (or C25) in Jepang. Kenapa? Mungkin bodystyle-nya Serena di pasar Jepang sudah kurang populer (bagi yang mau MPV bongsor, ada Elgrand, terus bagi yang kurang suka mobil bongsor, tetapi perlu konfigurasi MPV, ada Presage atau Lafesta yang lebih aerodinamis dan modern looking). Jadi there's no place for C25 lagi di Jepang.
But Serena in Indonesia is a different story. It has won good reviews from most people, and not surprising considering its superior packaging and competitive pricing. Jadi bisa saja Nissan Indo tidak bohong dan tidak akan mengecewakan. Mereka hanya akan melakukan minor-change saja selama 4-5 tahun ke depan, sebelum adanya C25 yang inspired by and made for South East Asians.
Setahu saya X-Trail memang dijadwalkan untuk difacelift (di Jepang) dalam waktu dekat (menyusul Ford Escape n Mazda Tribute), sebelum adanya generasi baru. Jadi untuk X-Trail yang kita dapatkan di Indo sudah cukup up-to-date.

Oh, jadi Nissan Tiida itu kerjasama ama Renault ya. Pantesan ada aura Renault di tuh mobil. Selain tuh mobil mirip Renault Megane tuh mobil mirip ama Nissan C-NOTE Concept Car.

Trus diperkirakan yang bakal muncul pertama kali dengan Inline-4 2.0 L 16 valves. Transmissionnya 5 speed manual. Tuh mesin memang untuk Nissan C-Note kan?
