Toyota [cencored]
Toyota Motor Corporation announced yesterday the nationwide launch of the new medium-class minivan [cencored]*1 at “Toyota†dealers (“Osaka Toyopet†dealers in the Osaka region).
The new [cencored] is a vehicle that seeks true innovation in terms of ease of access and space in a minivan. It is characterized by superior utility that was developed under the theme "flexibility and space" in the pursuit of an automobile that offers exceptional comfort to passengers while providing a space that can be used in any number of ways.
The new [cencored] pursues maximum utility from the perspective of the concept of universal design. The wide opening created by the Panorama Open Door (on the passenger side with a built-in center pillar) and a variety of seat arrangements provide for excellent ease of ingress and egress, more convenient loading and unloading, and a flexible interior space that can be used for a wide variety of applications. In addition, the stylish design, which has true character, and the use of cutting-edge technologies to provide both a comfortable and safe ride, make the new [cencored] an expression of the ideal minivan.
The passenger side features a Panorama Open Door consisting of a front door and a rear sliding door. When the front and rear doors are both opened, a passageway 1,890mm wide is created, achieving dramatic improvements in ease of ingress and egress and loading and unloading in a minivan.
Versatile seat arrangements emphasize user-friendliness. The passenger seat has a one-touch tumble feature, while the second row of seats is equipped with a seat tip-up function and the third row of seats features under-floor storage. This creates a flexible interior space that can be used for a wide variety of applications.
The cabin accommodates seven adults comfortably, and all seats in each of the three rows provide ample head clearance and legroom.
Based on the Toyota design theme "vibrant clarity" the new [cencored] was developed around the concept of a solid and modern vehicle design. It features a strong shape with simple lines and surfaces to create a stylish minivan form with a character suitable for a new century.
The high-performance 2.0-liter VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing-intelligent) D-4 (Direct Injection 4 Stroke Gasoline Engine) engine or the 1.8-liter engine with VVT-i and the Super CVT-i (Continuously Variable Transmission-intelligent) with NAVI-AI (Artificial Intelligence) SHIFT control (on models with the 2.0-liter engine) as well as a high-rigidity body give the new [cencored] superior maneuverability and cruising stability and an extremely comfortable ride.
Particular attention has been paid to making driving as easy as possible as seen in the world's first*2 steering-guided clearance sonar, which warns the driver when there is a risk of contact with an obstacle based on the direction of travel.

In conjunction with the use of the Panorama Open Doors, door locks have been placed on the upper and lower part of the passenger side door, and the space in between has been reinforced. The area around the door opening has also been strengthened using reinforcing materials, thus ensuring a strength and rigidity equivalent to the center pillar used on the driver's side.
Environmental features
All vehicles achieve emission levels 50% lower than 2005 standards under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Approval System for Low-emission Vehicles, and fuel efficiency that exceeds by five percent the level called for by Japanese 2010 fuel efficiency standards (fuel efficiency standards specified by the Law Concerning the Rational Use of Energy). All vehicles qualify for incentives under the Japanese government's Green Taxation System.
LCA (life-cycle assessment) has been implemented and emissions of CO2 and other atmospheric pollutants have been reduced, not just during the use stage but also over the entire life cycle of the vehicle, from manufacture through to disposal.
In order to increase the efficiency of dismantling of major components, improved dismantling labeling is used and the concept of design for recyclability (DFR), which incorporates an easy to dismantle structure, is adopted for body parts.

Matrix itu sebenarnya adalah compact crossover vehicle, bahkan di official website Toyota saja, sebenarnya Matrix itu bukan dikategorikan sbg. MPV, melainkan sebagai compact sedan.WP wrote:

Di official website Toyota, oleh Toyota sendiri masih dimasukkin ke kategori sedan, dan majalah-majalah di Amerika masih memasukkan Matrix ke kategori compact sedan.
Daripada kita pusing-pusing disini, silakan di-check kembali ke official website-nya Toyota, click bagian "Vehicles", disana kita bisa lihat Matrix itu dimasukkan ke kategori mana.

Salah paham terhadap Prius juga pernah terjadi (oleh kalangan orang Indonesia), Prius dikirain MPV karena bentuknya yg hatchback dan kembung begitu, padahal sebenarnya Prius pun adalah midsize sedan.

Sekarang ini memang lebih sulit daripada dulu untuk mengkategorikan model2 mobil, dan diperparah lagi oleh pabrikan2 yang suka meng-claim bahwa model barunya adalah 'crossover' (padahal sebenarnya masih berupa MPV/SUV), untuk menarik minat consumer.
Maka jangan langsung terpengaruh oleh kategorisasi yang berasal dari pabrikan, karena belum tentu tepat (demi kepentingan marketing)..
Contohnya, Mercedes A-class sebenarnya adalah sebuah 5-door hatchback, tapi di websitenya Mercedes memasukkan A-class dalam section 'saloon' (bersama C, E dan S) karena untuk menjaga image, Mercedes tidak mau mengakui mereka telah membuat sebuah small hatchback yang kelasnya di bawah saloon, padahal mereka ingin mendapat bagian dari pasar yang selama ini dinikmati oleh VW dengan Golf-nya.
Mercedes A-class tidak mungkin dikategorikan sebagai sebuah sedan/saloon, karena berbentuk 1-box design sedangkan saloon berciri khas berbentuk 3-box (bonnet, cabin and boot/trunk). Apalagi A-class memiliki pintu ke-5 (atau ke-3) di belakang yang dinamakan 'hatch', makanya mobil sejenis itu lalu disebut 'hatchback' (seperti Honda Estilo untuk contoh 3-door dan old Mazda 626 Hatchback untuk contoh 5-door ukuran besar).
Adapun ciri2 sebuah saloon antara lain, berbentuk 3-box design (bonnet, cabin + boot), posisi duduk rendah, hanya 2 baris jok dan biasanya transmission tunnel berada di tengah2 memanjang, ditandai oleh posisi gear knob yang berada di bawah antara jok depan dan adanya 'gundukan' transmission tunnel di baris jok belakang). Mengapa posisi transmission tunnel ini merupakan ciri khas saloon? Karena memberikan more balanced weight distribution ( umumnya dikatakan mengemudikannya 'mantap') yang merupakan ciri handling sedan/saloon dibandingkan dengan MPV yang lebih limbung.
Sedangkan station wagon/Estate memiliki basis saloon ditambah more space seperti sebuah MPV, makanya model ini populer di Eropa dengan ciri jalanannya yang membuat orang yang hobi mengemudi tapi membutuhkan ruang lebih, lebih prefer sebuah station wagon/estate daripada sebuah MPV yang walaupun memberikan ruang lebih lega tapi tidak bisa memberikan handling sebuah sedan/saloon.
Contohnya Honda Accord (sedan) vs Accord Tourer (Estate/Station wagon) vs Odyssey (MPV). Ciri MPV pada Odyssey adalah posisi gear knobnya yang mounted on dash (walaupun tidak semua MPV memiliki ciri ini). Walaupun banyak orang mengatakan Odyssey pantas disebut station wagon karena posisi duduknya yang rendah tidak seperti MPV lain, tapi handlingnya tetap tidak bisa menandingi sebuah Accord atau Accord Tourer (saloon dan station wagon asli). New Odyssey ini dapat juga dikatakan sebagai sebuah crossover antara station wagon dan MPV.
Untuk Toyota Matrix, sebenarnya adalah sebuah MPV berbasis Corolla. Karena karakternya yang lebih sporty daripada MPV biasa, disebut crossover dari sedan dan MPV. Tapi Matrix lebih pantas dikategorikan MPV daripada sebuah sedan.
Istilah 'crossover' ini banyak digunakan pabrikan tapi baru sedikit sekali model2 yang benar2 dapat dikatakan 'crossover', contohnya varian2 Audi Allroad adalah 'crossover' dari sebuah sedan/station wagon dengan kemampuan off road sebuah SUV.
