Kantung Udara Motor Pertama

Kantung udara kini tidak hanya "monopoli" kendaraan roda empat atau lebih. Raksasa otomotif Jepang, Honda Motor Corp, memperkenalkannya untuk kendaraan roda dua di Tokyo kemarin. Itu sistem kantung udara pertama di dunia untuk motor. Modul airbag itu ditempatkan di antara handel motor dan akan mengembang ketika empat sensor mendeteksi tabrakan dari depan. SI pengendara terlindungi dari risiko tabrakan tersebut. Tapi, airbag itu baru tersedia untuk motor Gold Wing dan dijual akhir musim semi ini.

Banyak ahli berkata air bag tersebut tidak berguna untuk tabrakan dari samping. Bisa juga sang pengendara malah terpelanting ke atas.

Honda announced new models for 2006, including an optional package for the Gold Wing that includes an air bag, along with a premium sound system and a navigation system. Air bags for motorcycles has been a controversial topic within the industry, with advocates saying they could reduce injuries and critics arguing that the unpredictability of a motorcycle crash could mean an air bag does more harm than good. Honda says its option is the first air bag system for mass-produced motorcycles, will help reduce the severity of injuries caused by frontal collisions. It will be offered only in the United States in 2006, and the company said it would consider adding the feature to motorcycles sold in Japan and Europe. The system consists of an air bag module which includes the air bag and the inflator, crash sensors which monitor acceleration changes, and an electronic control unit which performs calculations to instantly determine when a collision is occurring. When a severe frontal collision occurs, the four crash sensors mounted on the front fork will measure the change in acceleration caused by the impact, and convey this data to the air bag ECU, which determines whether or not it is necessary to inflate the air bag. The ECU sends an electronic signal to the air bag inflator, which will immediately respond by inflating the air bag, according to Honda. The inflated air bag is about the same size as conventional air bags for automobiles.

kalo motor nabrak, bukannya pengemudinya akan 'terbang' ??? kalo di mobil ya, terbangnya di dalam mobil, n air bag itu melindungi face driver..kalo di motor, bikernya dah keburu terbang kemana-mana kale....
